Similar in concept to gross income, gross pidends are the sum total of all pidends received. Gross pidends include all ordinary pidends that are paid, plus capital-gains distributions and nontaxable distributions received by the taxpayer during the year.

Most gross pidends are reported on Form 1099-DIV. Ordinary pidends are reported in box 1a, while the other forms of pidend income are listed elsewhere. However, not all pidend income reported on the 1099-DIV is reported on Schedule B.
